Hero Splendor Modified Into Fantastic-Looking Cafe Racer https://indianautosblog.com/hero-splendor-modified-cafe-racer-p322683 Sun, 28 Feb 2021 11:30:51 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322683 Most of the modified motorcycles that we usually come across are based on larger-displacement models. However, this time we’ve stumbled upon a beautiful cafe racer whose parent motorcycle is not a high-performance bike but one of India’s best-selling commuters of all times, the Hero Splendor! Fascinating, isn’t it?

Modified Hero Splendor Front Left

This build has been created by an Instagram user that goes by the name nikhil.custom. Based on the information available, he hails from Jodhpur, Rajasthan and transforms conventional-looking motorcycles into cafe racers, trackers, scramblers, bobbers, and choppers. In this story, we’ll be talking about one of his custom cafe racers that originally was a 2004 Hero Splendor.

As you can see in the images, almost everything stock of this modified Hero Splendor has been said goodbye. Perhaps, the only main part that remains is the engine. To give the motorcycle a cafe racer look, a round headlamp with a yellow tint has been used. Taking things to a level higher, an “X” mark has been created on the headlamp. We also see aftermarket turn signals. To enhance the front look, a much wider tyre with a block pattern is fitted. The fork gaiters also add some masculinity.

Modified Hero Splendor Outdoors

The fuel tank bears the “Custom Edition Cafe Racer” lettering. Behind it is a small saddle meant to accommodate only a single person. For that added cafe racer feel, an aftermarket handlebar is used which features bar-end mirrors. We also think that the stock instrument cluster has been replaced by a different unit that has only a single dial, most probably to show only the speed. The rear tyre is also much wider than the stock one and has block patterns. And the build couldn’t have been completed without a freeflow exhaust.

Since this build is based on a Hero Splendor, clearly it isn’t meant for outright performance. It’s created for beautiful aesthetics and on that front, it scores full marks. What do you have to say about this modified Hero Splendor? Let us know in the comments below.

Hero Splendor+ & Hero HF Deluxe Commuters Undergo Unusual Road Test https://indianautosblog.com/hero-splendor-hero-hf-deluxe-top-speed-test-p322532 Mon, 08 Feb 2021 09:33:04 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322532 India is one of the largest two-wheeler markets in the world. From 100cc commuter bikes to 2500cc superbikes, everything is available here. However, a major stake in the market share is occupied by smaller capacity commuter motorcycles and Hero MotoCorp is amongst the leading manufacturers of the same.

Commuter bikes are light on the pocket; less expensive to buy and easy to maintain. They also offer great fuel economy. Going the distance with minimum fuel consumption is their forte. Two such incredible commuter motorcycles available in the market today are the Hero Splendor+ and Hero HF Deluxe. You might have come across several videos conducting fuel efficiency tests of these models. However, what if they are brought together for a speed test?

YouTuber KSC Vlogs has created a video in which a Hero Splendor+ and Hero HF Deluxe undergo a long drag race. The footage also shows us the top speed that each motorcycle (with the same specs) could achieve.

Bs Vi Hero Splendor Side Profile

Engine Specs Hero Splendor+ / Hero HF Deluxe
Type Air-cooled, 4-stroke, single-cylinder, OHC
Displacement 97.2cc
Max Power 8.02bhp at 8000rpm
Max Torque 8.05Nm at 6000rpm
Fuel Injection Yes
Gears 4

In the first attempt, the HF Deluxe takes the lead by having a good start. The rider’s relatively less weight also worked in his favour. A few seconds later, the Splendor+ rider catches up by slipstreaming. However, it can be clearly seen that both motorcycles are running neck-to-neck. That’s when the riders decide to call off the first attempt.

For the second attempt, the two chaps switch their motorcycles. Again, the rider with the less weight (now on the Splendor+) takes the lead and the one on the HF Deluxe closes the gap after a few seconds. The result, however, remains the same - both motorcycles are equally fast. It’s the riders’ weight and skills that are making the marginal difference.

Bs6 Hero Hf Deluxe Rhs

As for the top speed, we spotted the Hero Splendor+ achieving just short of the 100km/h mark on the speedometer whereas the Hero HF Deluxe was successful in crossing the mark by a margin.

Hero Xpulse 200, Splendor, Maestro & others to get costlier from next year https://indianautosblog.com/hero-xpulse-200-splendor-maestro-others-price-hike-p322073 Thu, 17 Dec 2020 10:30:39 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=322073 The Hero Xpulse 200, Splendor, Maestro and other Hero motorcycles and scooters are set to become costlier from next year. Hero MotoCorp has announced that it’s going to increase the price of its entire product range by up to INR 1500.

Hero MotoCorp, the world’s largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters, has released a press statement explaining the reason behind the upcoming price hike. The company said that there has been a steady rise in commodity costs across the spectrum; including steel, aluminium, plastics, and precious metals. It has already accelerated its savings programme under the Leap-2 umbrella and will continue to work on mitigating the impact, to reduce the burden on the customers and protect its margins.

Also Read: Hero Xtreme 200R-based FRVs given to authorities in Maharashtra, Jammu

The press statement also included:

To partially offset the impact of the commodity costs, we will be increasing the prices of our products by up to INR 1500, with effect from January 1, 2021. The increase will vary across models and the exact quantum will be communicated to our dealers in due course.

It wouldn’t be incorrect to say that if you have been planning to buy a Hero motorcycle or scooter, now would be a good time. The company is already offering several attractive discounts and schemes on different products. For example, on the purchase of a brand-new Hero Xtreme 200S, you can save up to INR 4000. Also, it is the year-end time, which means you can bargain with the dealerships to benefit from some extra discount as they would need to clear the 2020 stock.

In other news, Hero MotoCorp has filed a trademark application for the name Hero XTEC earlier this month. Speculations suggest that it would be used for a new smaller capacity ADV that might be the Hero Xpulse 200 younger cousin and act as the Hero Impulse successor.

Hero MotoCorp sells 4.5 lakh two-wheelers in June 2020 - IAB Report https://indianautosblog.com/hero-motocorp-june-2020-sales-p321033 Thu, 02 Jul 2020 06:15:20 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321033 Hero MotoCorp has sold 4.5 lakh two-wheelers in the country in June 2020. It is a quadruple growth over the domestic sales recorded by the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer in May this year.

Hero MotoCorp had dispatched 1,12,682 two-wheelers to its dealerships across the country in May whereas, in June, the company delivered over 4,50,744 units of motorcycles and scooters combined to its retail outlets. It is a record sequential growth of four times.

Speaking about the significant sales growth, Dr Pawan Munjal, Chairman and CEO, Hero MotoCorp, said:

We have demonstrated phenomenal leadership quality and tenacity to clock a sharp vertical growth in our sales at a time of massive disruption and uncertainty. This is an overwhelming reiteration of the enduring trust and faith that our customers repose in Brand Hero. Sales of over 4.5 lakh two-wheelers in a highly disrupted month is also a clear signal of the resilience of the Indian economy to be able to revive in the face of any adversity. This has vindicated our strong belief in the robust fundamentals of the Indian economy.

Hero MotoCorp’s sales in the first quarter of FY21 was subdued due to the impact of Covid-19 health crisis. The effects of the closure of the plant operations and the retail outlets were visible through the entire month of April and most of May. Despite the challenging conditions, Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 5,63,426 two-wheelers in the first quarter (April-June) of the financial year 2020-21.

India today has one of the most stringent emission norms, the Bharat Stage-VI. While this change is good for the environment, it has brought major price hikes. Motorcycles are no different and still have become 7-10% more expensive now. Below are the best bikes under 1 lakh in India:

The Bajaj Pulsar 150 Neon is one of the best bikes under 1 lakh in india

Introduced first in 2001, the Bajaj Pulsar brand has been instrumental in changing the way India rides. The Pulsar 150 has over the years gained on the price tag front over the years. The TVS Apache RTR 160 retains the dated semi-digital instrumentation console with a blue backlight.

The BS-VI transition has seen several motorcycle manufacturers axe their old products, but that’s not the case with the TVS Apache RTR 160. Positioned as a more affordable offering in the 150-160 cc segment as compared to its 4-valved cousin, the TVS Apache RTR 160 is priced at INR 95,000 for the drum brake variant and INR 98,000 for the disc brake variant (both prices, ex-showroom, Delhi).

Continuing with the same design philosophy, the TVS Apache RTR 160 is powered by a 159.7 cc air-cooled, two-valve mill. Coupled to a five-speed gearbox, the engine can dish out 15.53 PS of power and 13.9 Nm of torque. The bike's features list includes GTT (Glide Through Traffic), adjustable split clip styled handlebar, adaptable brake pedal and gear lever, split grabrail and semi-digital instrumentation.

While the motorcycle seems good on paper, with all desired features and specifications, there's one major gripe. The TVS Apache RTR 160’s powerplant is prone to producing vibrations at high engine speeds.

The TVS Apache RTR 160 is available in six colour options: Pearl White, Matte Blue, Gloss Red, Gloss Black, T Grey, and Matte Red.
