Announcing this distinctive achievement, Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari ji, said, “Bharat-NCAP is India’s independent, atmanirbhar voice on vehicle safety. It is benchmarked to the best-in-class global standards and the Bharat-NCAP vehicle rating system is designed to advance road safety and vehicle safety standards beyond mandatory regulations. I’m delighted that the first ever vehicles being certified today with the highest achievable 5-star rating, are both from Tata Motors. I congratulate them on award of this coveted certification with the highest possible ratings and for continuing to enrich their legacy of introducing the safest vehicles on Indian roads.”

Receiving the coveted certification, Mr. Shailesh Chandra, MD, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “Bharat-NCAP is a significant step forward as it provides customers with a credible, objective score to evaluate the safety aspects of various vehicles. Informed customers taking optimal decisions will further foster the rising preference for safer vehicles in the country. We acknowledge and appreciate the collaborative efforts of the government, regulatory bodies, and the automotive industry in this pursuit. Watch Mahindra Thar VS Tata Harrier in a Drag Race https://indianautosblog.com/second-gen-mahindra-thar-vs-tata-harrier-in-a-drag-race-p323947 Thu, 24 Jun 2021 07:15:22 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323947 Back in 2019, Tata launched Harrier in the Indian market, and it rapidly got popular among buyers. It is based on the Tata H5X concept showcased a few years back at the Auto Expo. It is known among buyers for its aggressive design language and robust built quality. Last year, the carmaker also introduced the new facelift model of the SUV with some added features, including an automatic gearbox. Right now, Tata Harrier is one of the most popular SUVs in its segment. Back in 2020, Mahindra & Mahindra launched the second-gen Thar in India. The all-new Mahindra Thar is so popular among enthusiasts that in some cities, the waiting period of the SUV is up by almost a year. Here’s a recent drag race video between Tata Harrier AT and Mahindra Thar diesel manual.

This video has been uploaded by a YouTube channel named HEAT 17. The Youtuber conducted several rounds to find which SUV wins the drag race. Talking about the race, in the first round, the traction control of Mahindra Thar was turned off, while the Harrier was in Sport Mode with traction control on. As soon as the race starts, Tata Harrier smoothly takes the lead while the Mahindra SUV struggled. As the traction control of Thar was turned off, it did not get a smooth start, and Harrier took advantage of this by taking the lead. The Tata SUV was in the lead throughout the race and wins the first round.

Mahindra Thar and Tata Harrier are quite popular in their respective segments

In the second round, Mahindra Thar driver turned on the traction control. Both SUVs starts the second round almost at the same time. Mahindra Thar was slightly ahead of the Harrier, and we thought that Thar might take the lead, but surprisingly Tata SUV smoothly takes the lead and wins the race. Moreover, in the third race, the setting remains the same, and both SUVs were lined up for the race. Just like the third round, Tata Harrier effortlessly wins this round. There are several reasons behind Tata Harrier winning this race. The first one is its potent 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine. Furthermore, Tata Harrier is also 100kgs lighter than the Mahindra SUV.

Tata Harrier Stolen from Dealership- Video Recorded by CCTV Camera https://indianautosblog.com/tata-harrier-stolen-from-dealership-p323955 Wed, 23 Jun 2021 08:00:02 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=323955 In the past few years, the cases of car thefts have been rising in India. The police departments of different states are tightening up the security to decrease this number. But, car thefts continue to happen. Here’s a recent theft case reported, where a brand new Tata Harrier was stolen from outside a dealership. This incident took place on 15th June at around 5:30 AM at Tata Motors Zedex, located at Scottish Mall on Sohna Road, Gurgaon.

A new batch of the 2021 Tata Harrier arrived at the dealership on 13th June, and these models were parked outside the showroom on mall premises. When the dealership staff arrived in the morning, they were surprised to see that one car is missing, and afterwards, they checked the security cameras. As per the CCTV footage, the thieves stole an XZ Plus trim of Tata Harrier, priced close to Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

It was a brand new car, and there was no license plate on it. The thieves were quite confident that they won’t get caught by the police in the early morning. The dealership staff was not able to identify the thieves in the CCTV footage. Moreover, both keys of the Tata SUV remain with the dealership, which raises questions on the security system of Tata Harrier. It looks like that the thieves broke into the car without raising the alarm and then drove it away.

Thieves stole the XZ variant of Tata Harrier from Tata's dealership in Gurgaon

The XZ trim of Tata Harrier comes loaded with features, like keyless entry and ignition and auto burglars, which seems to have been manipulated by the thieves to steal the vehicle. Smart keys offered with cars nowadays automatically unlock the car whenever they are in range. Thieves can increase the range of a smart-key by using signal boosters, which allows them to unlock a vehicle from a faraway distance. The dealership staff also said that the police officials didn’t take any immediate action. The FIR was lodged two days later, on 17th June 2021, despite the staff was present at the relevant police station on 15th and 16th June.

The Harrier is the first Tata vehicle that is underpinned by the Omegarc platform, which is derived from Land Rover’s D8 architecture that is used by the Discovery Sport. Even though it is a strictly FWD SUV, it gets a rotary dial for changing between modes to help the vehicle tackle different terrains and conditions. This system is inspired by Land Rover’s trademark Terrain Response System.  The Harrier also recently is becoming somewhat of a favourite among the modifying community. Today we came across this example that claims to be the loudest Harrier in India.

The video of this modified Tata Harrier has been uploaded by Nick Zeck on YouTube. This is the Harrier Dark Edition, which comes with Atlas Black exterior paint, darkened elements like the black faux skid plates and darkened headlamp inserts and a ‘#Dark’ front fender badge. The owner has added aftermarket parts like the new LED lights on the front grille which flash like police sirens and a set of auxiliary lights have been fitted on the roof. The stock 17-inch wheels have been replaced with a set of 5-spoke diamond-cut 18-inch alloys. Other than that, the exterior remains largely similar.

It is the interior of this Tata Harrier that gets the more noticeable changes. This Dark Edition’s all-black interior has been replaced by dual-tone brown and black leather along with a new ambient lighting setup. There is lighting on the cupholders and the footwells while LED strips span the width of the dashboard and front doors. The Harrier Dark Edition’s all-black interior has been replaced by a dual-tone brown and black theme. The stock 7-inch infotainment system has been replaced by a bigger aftermarket unit. However, the biggest party piece of this Harrier is its 3000 RMS audio system by Focal that features Model E 165 K2 speakers for a clear and distortion-free hearing experience. The total cost of this modification is Rs 6 lakh, with most of it going to the audio system itself.

The video has been uploaded by Carsio on YouTube. The Tata Harrier in this video originally came in the Calisto Copper shade. The whole SUV is wrapped in a shade of red, after which additional Venom Deadpool graphics have been added on the bonnet, side fender, side and rear. The wrap and graphics are some of the most unique we have come across and gives the Harrier a more aggressive character. Other than the wrap, this Harrier remains largely stock except for a new set of diamond-cut multi-spoke alloy wheels.
