The inauguration of this cutting-edge factory was marked by the unveiling of the first Tata-branded car manufactured at this world-class facility. The event witnessed the presence of TPEM Managing Director, Shailesh Chandra, along with key leaders from the Passenger and Electric Vehicles divisions.

Strategically located in the industrial hub of GIDC Sanand, the facility benefits from a robust network of suppliers, ensuring seamless operations. Tata Motors acquired this expansive 460-acre site from Ford India on January 10, 2023. This establishment represents Tata Motors' second plant in Gujarat, dedicated to the production of both Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) and Electric Vehicle (EV) models.

The state-of-the-art plant comprises four primary units: Stamping, Body Construction, Paint, and Final Assembly. Each of these units is equipped with advanced automation and cutting-edge technology, guaranteeing precision manufacturing. The implementation of several world-class technologies at this facility sets a new benchmark within the automotive industry.

TPEM's foray into electric mobility aligns with the broader industry trend towards sustainable and eco-friendly transportation solutions. The company's investment in advanced manufacturing facilities reflects its dedication to pioneering innovation and shaping the future of the automotive sector in India. As TPEM begins production at the Sanand facility, the company looks poised to play a pivotal role in driving the adoption of electric vehicles in the country.

Seamless voice-enabled car controls with Alexa

Customers can ask Alexa, in English, Hindi, or Hinglish, to change the temperature inside the vehicle, adjust the airflow settings, adjust screen brightness, open/close the sunroof, and more. Just ask, “Alexa, open/close sunroof”, or “Alexa, set temperature to 20 degrees”. Customers can also control the 360-degree surround view camera in their Tata cars with Alexa to enhance maneuverability, safety, and the overall driving experience. Hands-free entertainment and productivity on-the-go

With Alexa Built-in, Nexon, Nexon.ev, Harrier, and Safari customers can enjoy their favourite music, listen to audiobooks on Audible, ask for jokes, listen to shayaris, and play games to stay entertained on their commute and enjoy family drives. Alexa also helps to navigate and check for traffic conditions, make and receive calls, manage to-do and shopping lists, hear the latest news, set reminders, shop on Amazon, and much more. The new Dark Editions of the Tata Harrier, Safari and Nexon are enhanced with the most premium features seen yet, in the company’s passenger vehicles portfolio. With an adaptive User Interface boasting of a new look and feel, a desirable larger Infotainment Screen of 26.03 cm and 10 new ADAS features, they promise to be the best companion for a progressive customer who wants to make a statement.

Tata Motors has refreshed its portfolio across powertrain options of Petrol, Diesel & CNG with new features which will deliver enhanced safety, drivability, comfort & convenience. The company has also increased its standard warranty of 2 Years/ 75,000 kms to 3 Years/ 1 lakh kms across the range, offering a hassle-free ownership experience.

Performance Upgrades

The low-end drivability of the Altroz and Punch have been enhanced such that they offer a much smoother experience in lower gears. The two models will also see Idle Stop Start as standard coming across all their variants, translating into better on-road mileage.

Reinforcing the trust in diesel engines and offering multiple choices to its customers, Tata Motors has upgraded the Revotorq diesel engines for both Altroz and Nexon. Additionally, the Nexon Diesel engine has been retuned to deliver better performance.

Furthermore, the new RDE-compliant engines are more responsive, and have been tuned such that they offer more efficiency to the customers.

Improved Safety & Drivability

TPMS has been added to the Tiago and Tigor offering better safety and a stress-free drive.

In line with customer expectations, this new range additionally boasts of a more serene in-cabin experience that has been elevated with a Quieter Cabin, Lower NVH and new features designed to make driving more comfortable, safer, and enjoyable.

The Jet Edition line-up features a unique exterior colour – Starlight - a dual-tone combination of an earthy bronze body and a platinum silver roof. The models also have Jet black alloy wheels and silver skid plates at the front and rear that will enhance the exterior opulence of the cars, giving them a premium and upmarket appeal.

The interior comes with a dual-tone Oyster White & Granite black theme. The techno-steel bronze finish mid-pad is the centre of attraction on the instrument panel along with the bronze accents on doors and floor consoles which elevate the overall ambience of the cars. JET embroidery on the front headrests and deco stitching on the seats in a bronze thread, makes the car more thematic and a complete package of style, comfort and extravagance.

The Jet Edition of Tata Safari and Harrier features advanced ESP safety functions such as Driver Doze off alert, Panic Brake alert, After Impact Braking. Additionally, the inclusion of a C-type USB charger in all rows for both cars, Winged Comfort Head Restraints on the second-row bench and captain seats (only in the Safari). They will also include a Wireless Android Auto/ Apple Carplay, Air purifier and a Wireless charger.

In addition to all the features of the Jet range combined with the luxuries of the top-end model, the Nexon Jet Edition will also boast of a wireless charger.

The Tata Nexon XM+ (S) comes with an electric sunroof, 7” floating infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4 speaker system, cooled glove box, rear AC vents, rain-sensing wipers, auto headlamps, digital instrument cluster, multi-drive modes, 12 V rear power socket and a shark fin antenna.

The Tata Nexon XM+ (S) is available in Calgary White, Daytona Grey, Flame Red and Foliage Green colour options and retails at a starting price of Rs 9.75 lakh (ex-showroom).

The four new variants of the Tata Nexon include the XZ+ (P), XZA+ (P), XZ+ (HS) and XZA+ (HS). They are priced at INR 11.58 lakh, INR 12.23 lakh, INR 10.86 lakh and INR 11.51 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively. These variants will also be offered in the Dark avatars. With bookings commencing today, the new variants will be available across all Tata Motors authorized dealerships.

The new Nexon XZ+ (P) / XZA+ (P) variants will be equipped with additional premium features such as Premium Benecke Kaliko Leatherette ventilated front seats, air purifier and auto-dimming IRVM. Additionally, the new XZ+ (HS) / XZA+ (HS) variants will sport an air purifier to make the drives healthier for the occupants. These additional features will also be available in their respective Dark editions.

Since the 200k roll out in June 2021, Tata Motors recorded 100k units of the Nexon, in less than 8 months. While being recently featured in the top 5 highest selling cars in India, the Nexon has multiple awards for its credibility, making it the #1 selling Compact SUV in its segment.

Tata Motors has been playing a leading role in proactively driving the adoption of electric mobility in the country. The firm is closely working with other Tata Group companies including Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Auto Components, Tata Motors Finance, and Croma, to contribute to the faster adoption of EVs in India through its EV ecosystem called the “Tata uniEVerse”.

The Tata Nexon EV is equipped with a powerful and high-efficiency 129 PS permanent-magnet AC motor, powered by a high capacity 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery. The EV comes with best-in-industry dust and waterproof battery pack, which meets IP67 standards. Furthermore, it offers 35 mobile apps-based connected features, ranging from remote commands, vehicle tracking to driving behaviour analytics, navigation, and remote diagnostics.

In other news, Tata Motors had launched the Tata Nexon EV in Nepal last month. The highly popular electric SUV is available in 3 variants (XM, XZ+ and XZ+ Lux) in the country, however, the new Dark Edition had not been introduced. Interested customers can make reservations by paying a refundable token amount of NPR 25,000 (~INR 15.5K) and become a part of the priority delivery list.

The footage shows racing driver Narain Karthikeyan having some fun with the Tata Nexon EV on the curves of Kolli Hills and later joined by the upcoming Tata Tigor EV. Both cars are then being driven around together.

Even though it is a teaser video of the new Tata Tigor EV, there are a few reasons why the Tata Nexon EV is a part of it. For instance, both belong to the same automobile manufacturer. Also, both are electric vehicles. Apart from that, the upcoming Tigor EV will be powered by the same Ziptron technology that can also be found on the Nexon EV.

The official specs of the new Tata Tigor EV have not been disclosed yet but they will be soon because we are expecting Tata Motors to launch the new Tigor EV in the near future. For reference, the Tata Nexon EV has a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a permanent magnet synchronous motor. The electric SUV has around 129 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque. The claimed 0-100 kmph acceleration time is 9.9 seconds. The Tata Nexon EV can be charged from 10-90% via any 15A plug point in 8.5 hours. It also supports fast charging which is capable of taking the battery charge level from 0-80% in just 60 minutes.

As for the new Tata Tigor EV, even though the model in the teaser video is wearing camouflage, the silhouette is quite evident. We can also see the sharp-looking headlamps and attractive LED DRLs located near the fog lamps. For more information about the new Tigor EV, keep checking this space.

The Tata Nexon EV has been introduced in Nepal in association with Sipradi Trading Pvt. Ltd. which is a major player in automotive and allied business and is one of the largest and most driving brands in Nepal. The electric SUV has been launched at a starting price of NPR 35.99 lakh which converts to INR 22.53 lakh. Tata Motors is offering a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 km (whichever is earlier) on the battery and 3 years or 1,25,000 km (whichever is earlier) on the vehicle. The Nexon EV is now on display and available for test drives across the dealer network by Sipradi Trading Pvt.

Tata Motors is preparing to increase the prices across its passenger vehicle lineup. The company says that it has to take this step due to the steep climb in overall input costs. We are expecting the brand to make an official announcement regarding the price hike in the coming few weeks and the revised prices will come into effect from 1 August 2021.

Tata Motors, India's leading vehicle manufacturer intends to shortly mark an appropriate increase in prices of its 'New Forever' range of Cars and SUVs. The steep climb in overall input costs, especially due to continuing rise in costs of essential raw materials including steel and precious metals, necessitates a transfer of at least some part of this increase to end customers.

This will be the third price hike this year that Tata Motors will be implementing in its passenger vehicle lineup. The company has previously increased the prices of its passenger vehicles in January and May.

At an ex-showroom price of INR 13.99 lakh, the Tata Nexon EV is one of the most affordable long-range electric cars available in India. It competes with the Hyundai Kona Electric and MG ZS EV. Its relatively lower price was already a major USP and now, with the introduction of the Dark Edition model, the Nexon EV would become even more desirable for the audience looking to buy a good-looking, reliable, and long-range electric vehicle.

Mahindra XUV300

The Mahindra XUV300 operates in the hotly contested sub-compact SUV segment in India and has returned respectable sales figures for the company. The top-spec variant of the car comes with segment-first features including seven airbags, dual-zone climate control with memory function, front parking sensors, heated mirrors, and disc brakes for all four wheels. Other noteworthy features include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, cruise control, push-button start, leather seats, hill hold function and a seven-inch infotainment system with smartphone mirroring tech and navigation.

Mechanically, the car is powered by two engine options that come in the form of a 1.2-litre petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. The petrol unit delivers 109bhp and 200Nm of torque. Meanwhile, the oil burner outputs 115bhp and 300Nm of torque. In the domestic market, the XUV300 locks horns with a few of the best selling cars in India including the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and the Tata Nexon.

Tata Nexon

In its latest update, the Tata Nexon got minor cosmetic changes that have majorly affected its persona. As with the electric version of the SUV, this one gets a revised hood for jacked-up muscularity, a tweaked grille, sharper headlamps with tri-arrow pattern DRLs and a new lower grille as well. The car sits on a set of new alloy wheels which adds more character, while its revised LED tail lamps give it a distinct look. In terms of safety, the Nexon boasts of a five-star NCAP safety rating ensuring owners and prospective buyers of a very safe car. This is backed up by a safety suite of dual-airbags, hill-hold assist, roll-over mitigation, ABS with EBD, traction control and more.

In its top-rung variant, the Tata Nexon gets features like engine push-start button, touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, cruise control, etc. Remarkably, it now gets added features like a digital instrument cluster, TPMS and a much-in-demand sunroof. Also, a notable addition in the new Nexon is the carmaker has come up with a new ‘Xpress Cool’ button owing to the hot and humid climatic conditions in India. In terms of powertrain, the Nexon gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that outputs 118bhp and 170Nm of torque. Transmission options for the engine include a 6-speed manual and an AMT. Alongside the petrol powertrains, also available is an oil burner that outputs 108bhp and 260Nm of torque. Transmission option on offer includes a manual and an AMT unit.

Renault Triber

The Renault Triber scored a four-star safety rating in the adult occupant protection and a 3-star rating in child occupancy protection at Global NCAP, making it the safest 7-seater tested to date in the mass segment in India. In its base-spec trim, the Triber comes equipped with two airbags, a seatbelt reminder system, speed alert warning, rear parking sensors and ABS with EBD. However, if you opt for top-spec trim of the Triber, you also get speed sensing door lock and impact sensing door unlock features along with two additional side airbags, taking the total count up to class leading 4 airbags in its top-spec trim.

14Earlier this year, the French carmaker has updated the Triber sub-compact MPV with a few subtle upgrades for the 2021 model year. These upgrades include the addition of new dual-tone colors on the top-spec RXZ trim and some new features on the inside as well. Powering the 7-seater MPV is the BR10 1.0-litre Dual VVT petrol engine. The naturally aspirated three-cylinder mill produces maximum power of 72hp at 6,250 rpm and peak torque of 96 Nm at 3,500 rpm. For transmission duties, there is either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

Tata Altroz

The Tata Altroz was introduced as the brand’s first-ever premium hatchback that goes against players like the Hyundai i20 and the Maruti Suzuki Baleno. In terms of features, the top-of-the-line XZ trim gets keyless entry and start, electric ORVMs, and cruise control. Also on offer are flat-bottom, tilt-adjustable steering with controls for audio and voice commands. The driver’s seat is height adjustable. There’s a single zone digital climate control system with rear AC vents along with a Harman touchscreen multimedia system complete with Andriod Auto and Apple Carplay.

In terms of powertrain, the car gets two petrol as well as one diesel engine option. The petrol engine comes in the form of a 1.2-litre unit that outputs 85 bhp and 113 Nm of torque. There's also a 1.2L turbo-petrol engine that puts out 110hp and 140Nm of torque. The diesel, on the other hand, is a 1.5-litre engine that delivers 89 bhp and 200 Nm of torque. Tata is offering a sole manual transmission option throughout the range. Also, Altroz could soon get a DCT gearbox, brand's first dual clutch gearbox.

Tata Tiago

In its most recent update, the Tata Tiago got quite a few comprehensive updates over its predecessor. On the outside, the hatchback gets new front bumper, headlamps and a new grille. In addition to this, the car also gets dual-tone alloy wheels, a black roof and black ORVMs with turn indicators.

On the inside, the new Tiago gets a mild update over its predecessor for freshness. The most major update of which is a fully digital instrument cluster as well as a new touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto alongside other connectivity options like USB and AUX-IN. In terms of powertrain, the Tiago gets a BS-VI compliant 1.2-litre, three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 84bhp and 113Nm of torque. The engine can be had in both five-speed manual and five-speed AMT options.

Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza

On its way to the only-petrol iteration, Maruti Suzuki kept the exterior updates to a bare minimum. The Brezza’s nose now has a generous dose of chrome on its grille, which is complemented by a pair of projector headlamps and LED DRLs. The Vitara Brezza is a slightly bigger car than the Kiger at 3,995mm long, 1,790mm wide 1,640 mm in height and a wheelbase of 2,500mm. Dominating the dash is the large 7-inch touchscreen ‘Smartplay studio’ system, below which there is an uncluttered layout of sleek air-con controls and the USB, AUX and charging ports. Also, plastic quality remains the same, which is acceptable for this segment (Hyundai Venue sets the segment standard).

In terms of safety, the car comes with features like dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, and rear parking sensors. While the pre-facelift Vitara Brezza was offered with a diesel engine, the facelifted SUV comes with a 1.5-litre petrol unit. This engine puts out 105PS of power and 138Nm of torque. It comes mated to either a 5-speed manual transmission option or a 4-speed AT gearbox. The Vitara Brezza is offered with a 2WD system. Prices for the Maruti Vitara Brezza starts at INR 7.39 lakh (ex-showroom) for the LXI variant.

Speaking on the discontinuation of select diesel variants of Tata Nexon, a statement from the carmaker reads -

The Tata Nexon is among the most popular compact SUVs in India and its diesel variant is very popular with a growing demand and a loyal following. To simplify the choices for its customers, Tata Motors has opted to discontinue select variants and introduced updates in others. The Nexon is now available in 20 variants offering customers an exciting product proposition at different price points and the most choice in the compact SUV segment. The Nexon’s range includes 12 variants in petrol and 8 variants in diesel with automatic and manual transmissions options. In keeping with its brand promise of ‘New Forever’ and with the objective to offer more value to customers, Tata Motors refines and refreshes its portfolio of trims and variants from time to time in line with market feedback.

This move likely comes due to low demand for the aforementioned trims. Carmakers are anyway known to frequently update and adapt model lineup as per customer feedback. To simplify the choices for its customers, the Nexon is now available in 20 variants, spread across different price points, maximizing value for the customer. The Nexon’s range includes 12 variants in petrol and 8 variants in diesel with automatic and manual transmissions options.

Some time ago, Tata added a new mid-spec XM(S) variant to the Nexon lineup, which brought the option of having a sunroof to a much lower price point. More recently, Tata Motors also deleted the physical buttons and dial controls for the infotainment system of the Nexon and relegated all functions to the touchscreen infotainment system itself. Recently, Tata also updated the Nexon with new Hinglish voice command feature.

Frequently tweaking the lineup has also helped Tata adapt the Nexon to demand, as it has consistently featured among the top 3 best-selling sub-compact SUVs for quite a few months now. Some of the key features on the Tata Nexon include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, iRA connected car tech, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, keyless entry, engine start/stop, cooled glovebox, automatic headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, TPMS, cruise control, a sunroof, and much more.

Currently, Tata Motors offers the Nexon with two engine choices – 1.2L Revotron turbo-petrol and 1.5L Revotorq turbo-diesel. While the former is capable of churning out 120 PS of peak power against 170 Nm of max torque, the latter can develop rated power and torque outputs of 110 PS and 260 Nm, respectively. Gearbox options with both of these engines include a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT. The subcompact SUV has also received a maximum 5-star safety rating in adult crash test safety from Global NCAP.
