Advanced technology and value

The 2025 Nissan Kicks features even more available technology and capability to enhance owners' lives, all wrapped up inside an unmistakably bold new design. As Nissan reshapes expectations across vehicle segments, Kicks outperforms competitors with best-in-class standard ground clearance and best-in-class standard cargo space.

The addition of available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, a first for Kicks, gives customers more confidence on the road in clear or inclement weather. Kicks also features a new 2.0-liter inline-four engine that delivers more power and more torque, plus a more responsive Xtronic transmission.

Expressive style

Like the boldly shaped and brightly colored sneakers seen on the court at Barclays Center, Kicks is designed to stand out. It boasts a strong, wide stance and abundant thoughtful details.

Kicks has an equally modern look inside, highlighted by available dual 12.3-inch displays on the dashboard.

Compared to its predecessor, the 2025 Kicks is larger on the outside and roomier inside, with generous cargo space. And a new available power panoramic sunroof lets in plenty of sunlight, enhancing the spacious interior feel.

Confident driving

Every Kicks includes standard Nissan Safety Shield 360 for added driver reassurance. To keep things connected, it features the convenience of available wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, up to four USB Type-C ports and available wireless charging.

The B6 Nissan Kicks is currently priced from INR 9.49 lakh, and goes up to INR 14.15 lakh (all prices ex-showroom India). Just like the Magnite, the Kicks too is offered in the following trims - XL, XV, XV Premium & XV Premium (O). The Kicks takes on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Renault Duster. While it may not have the flamboyance of either the Creta or the Seltos, it is much more affordable than either of them in their top-spec trims. In that sense, the Nissan Kicks comes across as good value for money, particularly with these discounts.

Under the hood, the Nissan Kicks gets the option of two petrol engines - there's a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The 1.5L petrol engine produces 105 hp and 142 Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. 2021 Nissan Kicks SUV Teased Ahead Of Global Debut https://indianautosblog.com/2021-nissan-kicks-teased-p321954 Fri, 04 Dec 2020 03:30:49 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321954 While Nissan was fully concentrated in the launch of the Magnite here in India, the Japanese carmaker has a brand new Kicks coming up for the global market. The Nissan Kicks is one of the brand's best selling model globally. We cannot quite say that for the Kicks here in India but Nissan has now dropped a teaser of the upcoming 2021 Kicks that's slated for a global debut on December 8, 2020. It must be noted that global-spec Nissan Kicks is based on a completely different platform unlike the India-spec model which is based on the Duster's old platform.

2021 Nissan Kicks Teaser
Nissan has dropped a teaser of the upcoming 2021 Kicks that's slated for a global debut on December 8, 2020.

Nissan had actually debuted the 2021 Kicks earlier this year in Thailand and the global-spec model is expected to carry forward the same design. The 2021 Kicks adopts the new Nissan family face with a rather big V-Motion grille. The headlamps are a lot sleeker than before and the bumper too has been significantly reprofiled because of the larger grille. The air dams housing the fog lamps on the bumper also look a lot more sporty and aggressive.

Nissan had actually debuted the 2021 Kicks earlier this year in Thailand and the global-spec model is expected to be similar

The styling hasn't changed much at the sides nor at the rear. In fact, the side profile remains almost identical and even the kink at the C-Pillar has been retained. There's a new design for the alloy wheels however. At the rear, the tail lamps have been altered ever so slightly and the bumper too has been tweaked. Overall, majority of the changes are concentrated on the face and one could even say it look a bit Lexus-like, which is only a good thing.

On the inside, although the dashboard has been redesigned, it looks pretty similar to the outgoing model. The infotainment screen has grown a little larger and the AC vents too have been repositioned, but at first glance, it could appear similar. The center console too has been redesigned to sport a smaller gear shifter and there's a bit more equipment than before, like a more sophisticated semi-digital instrument cluster. Engine options and other mechanical details will be revealed by Nissan when the SUV is officially unveiled on December 8, 2020.

Back home, we hope Nissan brings the updated Kicks to India sometime soon. The current-gen Nissan Kicks has been around for some time and in the wake of increasing competition, it might do well with an update. As of now, Nissan has the Magnite on their hands and they will be really looking into making it a success. They have got the pricing bang on and with their plans of further expanding their dealer and service network, Nissan should have a winner on their hands.

The centre of the dashboard has an 8-inch floating-type infotainment display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. The company has also included ambient lighting for a premium feel.

All-New Nissan Kicks e-Power Goes On Sale In Japan; Gets An Electric-Petrol Hybrid Powertrain https://indianautosblog.com/all-new-nissan-p321174 Fri, 17 Jul 2020 11:45:55 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321174 Currently, Nissan Motors India has no immediate plans of bringing the all-new Nissan Kicks to India any time soon. In fact, the Japanese car maker has just launched the BS6 version of the current Nissan Kicks with a new turbocharged petrol engine to meet the new emission regulations. However, the facelifted Global version of the Nissan Kicks, which first had its global premiere in Thailand, has now gone on sale in Japan but in its e-Power series-hybrid guise. Armed with the company’s new PROpilot driver assistance technology, the new Nissan Kicks carres a price tag of 2,759,900 Yen, roughly INR 19 lakh.

2020 Nissan Kicks E Power Japan Launch

In terms of styling, the new Nissan Kicks is not wildly different from the current model but definitely has enough to spruce up the entire looks. The updated V-Motion grille has now been elongated, the LED headlights now sharper and the bumper is a lot more pronounced. At the side, the re-designed 17-inch alloy wheels get a turbine-styled, two-tone look and continue the flaunt a floating-type roof effect. The new Nissan Kicks is available in 13 different colour options, with four two-tone colour combinations. Step inside and the updated model carries a similar cabin design as the outgoing model. The only difference that you would find is the addition of an electric parking brake button in the centre console. Other than this, goodies like leather seats, chunky multi-function steering wheel, 360-degree camera, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto continue to impress. Another nifty feature are the Zero Gravity seats which are designed to enhance comfort and reduce fatigue over longer journeys.

2020 Nissan Kicks E Power Interior Japan Launch

The biggest change is the new e-Power powertrain, which uses a gasoline motor to generate charge to an electric motor, which then sends power to the wheels. The EM57 electric motor sources power from a 1.57 kWh lithium-ion battery that is being constantly topped up by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol unit. The electric motor is capable of generating 129PS and a maximum torque of 260Nm. The driver has three driving modes to choose from - Normal, S, Eco and EV. The new Nissan Kicks also features an e-pedal, which can be used to accelerate or decelerate using just the throttle pedal. The Nissan Kicks e-Power also gets Nissan’s PROpilot driver assistance technology which uses a radar-guided system to automatically drive the car only long journeys. The system can keep the right distance from the car in front, stay centre in its lane and brake when needed.

Nissan's Sub-4 Metre Magnite SUV Scheduled For Early-2021 Launch, Details Teased https://indianautosblog.com/nissan-magnite-suv-2021-launch-details-teased-p321047 Fri, 03 Jul 2020 07:06:41 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321047 When it comes to SUVs in India, Nissan is not the first brand that is likely to pop up in your mind. Yes, the Nissan Terrano did manage to make a small mark for itself. Yet, that credit really has to go to the pioneering steps taken by the Renault Duster. However, Nissan hasn’t given up on us yet. A few months back, the company teased potential customers with a silhouette of its upcoming sub-4 metre SUV, christened the Nissan Magnite. However, owing to the recent pandemic, the reveal and launch of the new model was pushed back further. Well those plans are now back on track, kicking off celebrations with a set of new pictures that show us clearer details of what we can expect from the upcoming SUV.

All New Nissan Magnite Front Three Quarter
The Nissan Magnite fuses current design DNA with the brand's latest design language.

The new Magnite will be based on the company’s versatile CMF-A+ platform, which also underpins the likes of the Renault Kwid, Triber and upcoming Kiger SUV. This will help the company fall under the sub-4 metre tax bracket, figuratively and literally. As a result, the new Nissan Magnite will compete with the likes of the Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 300 and Tata Nexon. In the two pictures released, one shows the car’s front three-quarter panel and the other shows us the design of its LED headlamps. Using these as reference, it is clear that the Nissan Magnite will feature edgy creases and thoroughly modern exterior design. The Nissan Kicks is easily one of the best looking SUVs in its own class, with the Nissan Magnite set to make the same impression in its own class. While the design of the headlights are closer to the ones on the Kicks, other areas see similar design cues to what the latest Datsun models get. For example, the grille is trapezoidal-shaped and quite pronounced like the one on the new redi-GO. Even the L-shaped LED DRLs flanked on either side of the front bumper give us very strong Datsun vibes. We are sure it will be one heck of a looker when we get to see the complete car in flesh. Another design cue that is clear to see are the alloy wheels. While the design in the final production version will not be as radical as this concept, we expect a similar multi-spoke design. Other design highlights is the generous amount of plastic cladding for a more menacing appeal.

Nissan Magnite Teaser Headlight
These are not headlights off some German vehicle, it is the new Nissan Magnite

The new Nissan Magnite will have its official reveal in Japan on July 16, with its launch in India now delayed to early 2021. In terms of performance, unofficial reports suggest it will draw power from two iterations of 1.0-litre three-cylinder petrol engine. The first will be a naturally-aspirated 72bhp/96Nm version, the second could be a turbocharged 95bhp variation.

Currently, Nissan sells only two models in India, the Kicks premium B-SUV and the GT-R supercar. The company has put up only the Kicks on display in its virtual showroom. Announcing the Nissan virtual showroom in India, below is what Rakesh Srivastava, Managing Director, Nissan, said:

We are strengthening our commitment in line with our customer-centric approach by bringing the showroom experience to customers’ location through a Virtual Showroom with a digitally enabled car purchase journey. Nissan Virtual Showroom Kicks Interior
The Nissan virtual showroom is not an online configurator. That is something Nissan is yet to release in India.

In the future, we could see Nissan putting up an online configurator that allows customers to view vehicles in the configuration they desire. As for the just-launched virtual showroom, that platform should see the addition of the upcoming sub-4 metre SUV that is expected to be called Magnite in the coming months. Nissan may launch the Magnite sometime in the third quarter of the year (July-September 2020).

The Nissan Kicks range now includes a Nissan Kicks turbo petrol as well as a Nissan Kicks automatic.

New Nissan Kicks 2020 Bs6 Exterior
The BS6 Nissan Kicks' turbocharged petrol engine is available with a 6-speed MT and even the X-tronic CVT.

The Nissan Kicks 2020 includes various mechanical and equipment changes. The 1.5-litre H4K naturally aspirated petrol engine (106 PS/142 Nm) has been upgraded to BS6. Its maximum power and maximum torque have remained unchanged. Like in the old model, it is available with only a 5-speed manual transmission.

Unlike in the old Nissan Kicks, there’s no 1.5-litre K9K dCi turbocharged diesel engine (110 PS/240 Nm) option. However, there is an all-new turbocharged petrol engine option. It is the HR13 1.5-litre DDT unit that produces 156 PS of maximum power and 254 Nm of maximum torque. These are the segment-best outputs for any engine, petrol or diesel. Needless to say, the all-new engine complies with the BS6 emission norms.

Also new in the 2020 Nissan Kicks are a 6-speed manual transmission and the X-tronic CVT. Both are available with only the turbocharged petrol engine. Moreover, unlike in the old model, remote engine start and idle start-stop features are also available.

New Nissan Kicks 2020 Bs6 Cvt

Nissan has dropped the Kicks’ Amber Orange monotone and Pearl White with Amber Orange dual-tone colour options with the MY2020 update. Nissan Kicks e-Power unveiled, priced from INR 21 lakh in Thailand - IAB Report https://indianautosblog.com/nissan-kicks-e-power-priced-inr-21-lakh-thailand-p320674 Fri, 15 May 2020 13:37:10 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=320674 The Nissan Kicks e-Power has been launched in Thailand, with (introductory) prices starting at INR 21 lakh. This marks the debut of the Nissan Kicks facelift for global markets.

2020 Nissan Kicks E Power Facelift Exterior
The new Nissan Kicks is available in Thailand in exclusively the new e-Power variant.

The new Nissan Kicks facelift for global markets features a refreshed design, with most of the visual changes concentrated at the front. It has a much bigger radiator grille, sleeker, more sophisticated-looking LED headlamps, new front bumper, smaller fog lamps and new lower air intake.

On the sides, there are new 17-inch alloy wheels, while at the rear, tweaked tail lamps with LED light guide, new bumper and more body-coloured body panels spruce up the styling of the global Nissan Kicks. The interior, save for the switch to an electric parking brake, has remained unchanged.

The new global Nissan Kicks' biggest talking point is its e-Power powertrain that makes it a series-hybrid electric vehicle. Its wheels are spun by the EM57 electric motor, which sources electricity from a 1.57 kWh Lithium-ion battery that is constantly charged by energy generated by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine.

2020 Nissan Kicks E Power Facelift Interior
The interior of the Nissan Kicks has remained unchanged post facelift. However, the sub-compact SUV has switched to an electric parking brake.

The engine of the e-Power system employed in the 2020 Nissan Kicks is presumably the HR12DE unit. The e-Power system provides the SUV a maximum power of 129 PS and a maximum torque of 260 Nm. The driver can choose from four driving modes: Normal, S, Eco and EV.

Unlike the old Nissan Kicks, the new Nissan Kicks, exclusively in the e-Power variant, features e-Pedal. The driver can launch, accelerate, decelerate and stop the SUV by using only the accelerator pedal. This is especially useful in heavy traffic and when going uphill or downhill.

Nissan has equipped the new global Kicks with a host of advanced safety technologies, including Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, 360-degree camera with Moving Object Detection and IRVM with a built-in LCD monitor to display the rearview camera feed.

Nissan Kicks e-Power - Prices (Introductory)

  • S - 8,89,000 Baht (INR 21,03,149.97)
  • E - 9,49,000 Baht (INR 22,45,094.85)

New Nissan Kicks facelift e-Power with refreshed design leaked - IAB Report https://indianautosblog.com/new-nissan-kicks-facelift-e-power-refreshed-design-leaked-p320669 Fri, 15 May 2020 08:51:47 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=320669 The new Nissan Kicks facelift has leaked online ahead of its official unveiling today evening. This 2020 Nissan Kicks e-Power will be launched in Thailand. The 2020 Nissan Kicks that will be launched in India soon won’t have any design changes.

Nissan Kicks Facelift E Power 2020
The 2020 Nissan Kicks looks sportier than the old model.

The 2020 Nissan Kicks has a sportier design, thanks to the refreshed front end. The sleeker headlamps, much bigger radiator grille, sportier bumper and the X-shape formed by the new grille layout give the Nissan Kicks facelift a more aggressive styling. The fog lamps and lower grille are also new.

On the sides, the new Nissan Kicks has new dual-tone alloy wheels. While the leaked picture does not show the rear end, spy media has shown that the updated model features new bumper, much lesser black body cladding and tweaked tail lamps. Whether the new model packs any interior changes is unknown.

The global Nissan Kicks is gaining an e-Power variant with its mid-cycle refresh. Seen here is indeed the Nissan Kicks e-Power, as denoted by the specific branding on the registration plate and the e-Power badge on the driver-side front door.

Like the Nissan Note e-Power, the Nissan Kicks e-Power likely packs the HR12DE 1.2-litre petrol engine (79 PS/103 Nm), the EM57 electric motor (109 PS/254 Nm) and a 1.5 kWh Lithium-ion battery. Should there be a 4WD variant on offer, there’d be an additional electric motor - N2 (4.8 PS/15 Nm). The engine acts as a generator, producing electricity for the electric motor(s), which drive(s) the wheels.

The India-specific Nissan Kicks will be launched with a BS6 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine and BS6 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine in the coming weeks. Know more about it here.
