Following is a list of five such cars which has made auto enthusiasts a fan of the Australian Police.

BMW M5 Competition

The most recent inclusion in the Australian Police's patrol fleet, the BMW M5 Competition also happens to be its fastest patrol car ever. Over all these yeas, the BMW M5 has always been revered for its impeccable driving dynamics and exhilarating performance.

The BMW M5 Competition is used by the Australian police in Victoria. It is basically the latest version, the sixth generation model. And like every other M5s in the past, it is basically a high performance version of the 5 series sedan, which is already a part of Australian Police’s patrol fleet.

The BMW M5 Competition is powered by a 4.4-litre twin turbo V8 petrol engine, which can produce a maximum power output of 624 PS – almost 20 PS more than the standard M5, and a maximum torque output of 750 Nm. Mated to an 8-speed ZF automatic gearbox, this engine has the capability of propelling the BMW M5 Competition to an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. The BMW M5 Competition is able to cover the 0 to 100 kmph sprint in just 3.3 seconds. While the BMW M5 is already a great driver’s car, the M5 Competition raises the bar even higher with revised suspension, lower ground clearance and a revamped exhaust system.

Honda Civic Type R

One of the sportiest hatchbacks to have ever made on this planet, the Honda Civic Type R has been inducted by the New South Wales Police in Australia. The Type R variant is known for its even more aggressive stance and styling as well as levelled up performance. This hot hatch has been donated to New South Wales Police by Honda Australia for 12 months for serving in police’s social media campaign in order to become more engaging and comfortable with the local people.

The Honda Civic Type R offered to the New South Wales Police is basically the fifth-gen model, and is designed and engineered on the basis of the tenth-gen Honda Civic. With a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline four petrol motor (310 PS/400 Nm) mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, the Honda Civic Type R can hit a top speed of 272 km/h. This Honda Civic Type R has also got the record of being the fastest front-wheel driven car at the Nurburgring.

Kia Stinger GT

The Kia Stinger GT is Tasmania and Queensland Police’s new and flashier patroling car after the Ford Falcon and Holden Commodore in the past. The Kia Stinger GT was unveiled for the first time back in 2017, and since then, it has managed to not only change the perception of people towards Kia, but also challenge the big wigs in performance-oriented executive sedans globally. Queensland police in Australia has already stated that it will be gradually replacing all of its 200 existing old cars with the Kia Stinger GT.

For the Stinger, Kia left no stone unturned and made it its most powerful vehicle yet. In its most powerful variant GT, which happens to be the one used by the Queensland Police in Australia, there's a 3.3-litre twin-turbo petrol engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox. In this version, the Kia Stinger GT produces peak power and torque outputs of 370 PS and 510 Nm respectively. With a maximum top speed of 270 km/h and a 0-100 km/h sprint time of 4.6 seconds, the Kia Stinger GT is not your ordinary South Korean 5-door car.

Tesla Model X

Understanding the fact at an early phase that electric cars are the future of mobility across the world, the police force in Victoria, Australia has added the very popular Tesla Model X in its fleet of highway patrol cruisers. Currently the only fully electric police car in Australia, the Tesla Model X appeared for the first time on the scene back in 2015, and stunned the world with its bonkers performance and distinctive design, with its gullwing rear doors being the most eye-catching design element.

Tesla has particularly worked on this project with the Victoria Police and has made some specific changes to the fleet car, the most significant of which is the integration of specific controls in the tablet-like touchscreen infotainment system. The Tesla Model X employed by the Victorian police is the range-topping 100D variant, which is blessed with two motors and a 100 kWh lithium-ion battery pack that offers a range of 523 km. The Tesla Model X 100D can do a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 2.7 seconds, which is much faster than many ICE-powered high-performance SUVs.

Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S Coupe

The Tesla Model X is not the only flashy SUV to make its presence in the fleet car of Victoria Police – there is the Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S Coupe as well in its garage. However, unlike the all the electric Model X, the GLE 63 S Coupe runs on gasoline and is basically the most powerful version of the GLE Coupe. This coupe-styled SUV has been inducted by Victoria Police as a highway patrol vehicle, as a part of its campaign on promoting road safety in the city.

The stunning looking Mercedes AMG GLE 63 S Coupe sources its power from a 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine, which is capable of belting out maximum power and torque outputs of 590 PS and 760 Nm respectively. The engine is coupled to a seven-speed automatic gearbox and is capable of making the SUV reach the top speed of 250 km/h (electronically limited). The 0-100 km/h sprint time is 4.2 seconds.

Kia expects the proposed launches to help offset the decline in net profit suffered in the second quarter of 2017 due to weak demand in China and the United States.

Kia Stonic launch in Europe in September 2017
The Kia Stonic will go on sale in Europe this September at an estimated starting price of £15,000. There will be three petrol engines and one diesel engine on offer.

Kia unveiled the Stonic in July 2017. The B-SUV is expected to be a major sales driver for Kia in Europe. It is built on a lightweight platform that comprises 51% high strength steel. The design of the Stonic features signature Kia elements such as the 'tiger-nose' grille along with a 'Targa' style roof. On the inside, the Stonic features a touchscreen unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto functionality. Other features include heated front seats, cruise control and keyless entry. It can be specced with Kia’s DRiVE WISE Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which includes tech like Collision Alert, Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and Lane Departure Warning System.

For Europe, the Kia Stonic will be available with a 1.0 L T-GDI turbocharged petrol, 1.25 L and 1.4 L naturally aspirated petrol engines, as well as a 1.6 L CRDi diesel engine. All engines will come with a manual transmission, and there's no word on an automatic transmission option yet.

The Kia Stinger was unveiled in January at the 2017 North American International Auto Show, three years after the Kia GT concept on which it is based. The Stinger is aimed squarely at the BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe and Audi A5 Sportback. Kia will offer the Stinger with three engine options - 2.2 L R diesel, 2.0 L Theta II petrol and 3.3 L Lambda II V6 petrol. All engines come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The 2.2-litre diesel engine puts out a maximum power of 200 PS and peak torque of 440 Nm while the 2.0-litre petrol engine is good for 255 PS and 353 Nm. The range-topping 3.3-litre V6 engine that will power the Kia Stinger GT develops 370 PS and 510 Nm of torque.

Kia Stinger launch in Europe in October 2017
Kia will launch the Stinger in Europe this October with prices starting at around £30,000. The top of the line Stinger GT gets a 370 PS 3.3 L V6 petrol engine.

Prices of the Kia Stonic will start at around £15,000 in the UK. Kia will offer the B-SUV with its comprehensive seven year 100,000 mile warranty. The Stinger range in the UK is likely to start at around £30,000 for the entry level variants. It could go up to around £50,000 for the range topping Stinger GT. These two cars could make an appearance at the Auto Expo 2018 in Noida, which kicks off on February 9.
