The Japanese carmaker has launched a service campaign to replace fuel pumps in 77,954 Honda cars - spanning across several models - that were manufactured between January 2019 and September 2020 in India. As per the carmaker, the fuel pumps installed in these cars may contain defective impellers, which could eventually result in the engine stopping or not starting at all.

Honda's recall has most affected the Amaze sedan with as 36,086 units fitted with the faulty fuel pump.

The recall will be carried out in a phased manner and has already started from April 17, 2021. The carmaker has released a detailed list of all the models that have been affected, including their production period and the number of units of each model that have been fitted with the faulty fuel pump. Barring the fifth-gen Honda City, the recall has affected every other Honda car in India. The vehicle most affected by this recall is the Honda Amaze with as many as 36,086 units fitted with the faulty fuel pump.

Model Production Year No of Units affected
Amaze Jan - Aug 2019 36,086
Last-Gen City Jan - Sept 2019 20,248
WR-V Jan - Aug 2019 7,871
Jazz Jan - Aug 2019 6,235
Civic Jan - Sept 2019 5,170

CRV Jan 2019 - Sept 2020 607

The recall also includes 20,248 units of the fourth-gen Honda City, 7,871 units of the WR-V, 6,235 units of the Jazz hatchback, 5,170 units of the Civic sedan, and 1,737 units of the BR-V. All these vehicles were manufactured between January and October 2019. Additionally, the recall also covers 607 units of the Honda CR-V that were manufactured between January 2019 and September 2020. It must be noted that the Honda CR-V, Civic and BR-V have been discontinued in India.

Honda Civic
Now discontinued models like the Honda CR-V and Civic have also been affected by the recall.

Vehicles manufactured before or after the above-mentioned time period do not have the suspected fuel pump issue. This recall could actually be a part of a global recall that Honda initiated in March 2021. Earlier last month, Honda had said that they will recall about 761,000 vehicles worldwide to replace fuel pumps that could fail and lead to engine problems. Given the current situation with the pandemic in the country, Honda dealers are operating with limited staff. Customers are advised to visit dealerships with prior appointment to adhere to pandemic protocols.

Honda's authorized dealer partners will be contacting the owners of the affected vehicles individually. The replacement of the part will be carried out free of cost to the customer. Additionally, owners can also check whether their cars are covered under this campaign by entering the 17-digit Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on the special microsite which has been created on the company's website.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza: Specs, features and prices compared https://indianautosblog.com/honda-wr-v-vs-maruti-vitara-brezza-specs-features-and-prices-compared-p321095 Thu, 09 Jul 2020 11:45:49 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321095 The Honda WR-V has bounced back with its facelifted avatar to take on the segment leader of sub-four meter compact SUVs, the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Introduction

The Maruti Vitara Brezza has shed its diesel avatar in the facelifted version and now follows Maruti Suzuki's new petrol-only philosophy, thus getting a petrol engine from other Maruti Suzuki offerings like the Ciaz and Ertiga.

On the other hand, Honda has revamped the ageing and low selling WR-V with few tweaks at front and rear along with feature additions in its new BS-6 avatar. Also, unlike the Vitara Brezza, WR-V continues to sell with both petrol and diesel engine options.

>>> BS6 Honda WR-V Launched, More Than A Lakh Costlier Than Maruti Vitara Brezza

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Dimensions

In terms of dimensions, both the Maruti Vitara Brezza as well as Honda WR-V have marginally the same length. However, where the Maruti Vitara Brezza clearly trumps the Honda WR-V is in the width and height aspects, with the former gaining advantages in the form of shoulder room and headroom.

However, with almost 50mm of more wheelbase over the Maruti Vitara Brezza, the Honda WR-V gets better legroom and knee room on offer.

Dimensions Honda WR-V Maruti Vitara Brezza
Length 3,999 mm 3,995 mm
Width 1,734 mm 1,790 mm
Height 1,601 mm 1,740 mm
Wheelbase 2,555 mm 2,500 mm

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Design?

Exterior

Despite being a facelifted version, the Maruti Vitara Brezza doesn't seem to be substantially upgraded in terms of looks. Maruti has kept the squared and upright stance of the Vitara Brezza intact in this facelifted version, with major tweaks to the front fascia and minor ones to the alloy wheels and tail lamps. The same thing can be said about the Honda WR-V as well, as the facelifted version of the crossover has changes limited to its front grille and tail lamps.

Honda WR-V vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - front
Both the Honda WR-V as well as Maruti Vitara Brezza feature revised grilles, with the introduction of LED projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs and LED projector fog lamps.

The biggest change one can see in the Maruti Vitara Brezza is the full-chrome grille sitting at the centre, which is flanked with all-new full LED headlamps, which houses dual LED projectors and daytime running LEDs, the latter of which also doubles up as turn indicators.

On the other hand, the Honda WR-V retains the bold looking front fascia with chrome garnish and the front grille, which now comes with horizontal slats within it. The headlamps now have LED projector bulbs along with daytime running LEDs, which have made it look much more modern than before. Both the vehicles have their front bumpers adorned with skid plates and LED projector fog lamps.

Also read: Hyundai Venue vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Is Hyundai’s entry SUV better than that of Maruti Suzuki?

From the sides, nothing much has changed in both the vehicles - while the Maruti Vitara Brezza has the traditional upright stance and boxy looks, the Honda WR-V looks more aerodynamic in comparison with its crossover silhouette and sloping bonnet. Both the Vitara Brezza as well as Honda WR-V feature roof rails and machined alloy wheels.

Honda WR-V vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - rear
At the back, nothing much has changed in both the Honda WR-V and Maruti Vitara Brezza, save for new LED inserts in tail lamps.

Carrying their respective designs towards the rear in a proportionate manner, both the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Honda WR-V get tail lamps with revised LED inserts in them and tough-looking cladding on the rear bumper.

Interior

On the inside, the cabins of both the Maruti Vitara Brezza as well as Honda WR-V get all-black layout with contrasting silver bits retained from their previous iterations. However, in comparison to the slightly more youthful and driver-centric cabin of the Honda WR-V, the cabin of the Maruti Vitara Brezza feels more mature and bigger.

Honda WR-V vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - interior
The cabin of both the Honda WR-V and Maruti Vitara Brezza are finished in all black, with the former getting the much-in-trend electric sunroof.

While the instrument console of the Maruti Vitara Brezza has a monochrome rectangular MID screen nestled between two analog dials, the Honda WR-V gets its three-pod instrument console from the fourth generation Honda City, with the extreme right one housing the MID details.

The centre console of the Maruti Vitara Brezza looks conventional, while the Honda WR-V's console looks more appealing with its tilted-towards-driver positioning and presence of a fancier touch-sensitive automatic climate control console.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Features

While both the Maruti Vitara Brezza as well as Honda WR-V do not create new benchmarks in their segment when it comes to equipment availability, both the SUVs are decently kitted with a good amount of features. However, it is the Honda WR-V which wins the battle hands down here with a couple of more goodies on board.

On the outside, both the vehicles get LED projector headlamps, daytime running LEDs, LED projector fog lamps, LED tail lamps, roof rails and 16-inch machined alloy wheels.

Honda WR-V vs Maruti Vitara Brezza - center console
While both the Honda WR-V and Maruti Vitara Brezza get touchscreen infotainment systems and automatic climate control, the WR-V gets a touch control panel for the latter.

However, when it comes to the interior cabin, the Honda WR-V edges ahead of the Maruti Vitara Brezza with the availability of an electric sunroof, telescopic adjustable steering and touch-sensitive panel for the automatic climate control. The features common to both the vehicles are a modern touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, push-button start with keyless entry, height-adjustable driver's seat, steering mounted audio, bluetooth and cruise controls, tilt-adjustable steering, power foldable outside rearview mirrors.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Engines & Transmissions

In place of the now-defunct 1.3-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, the Maruti Vitara Brezza comes with a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine under its hood as the sole engine option. Available with both 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic gearboxes, the engine produces 105 PS of maximum power output and 138 Nm of peak torque output.

On the other hand, the Honda WR-V provides both the options of a 1.2-litre four-cylinder petrol engine (90 PS/110 Nm) and a 1.5-litre diesel engine (100 PS/200 Nm). While the petrol engine here is coupled to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the diesel engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Fuel Economy

In comparison, the new Maruti Vitara Brezza ensures a better fuel efficiency figure of 17.03 km/l for the manual variants and 18.46 km/l for the automatic variants, with the latter getting the Maruti Suzuki's Smart Hybrid technology.

Despite having a smaller petrol engine in comparison, the Honda WR-V petrol delivers a lower 16.5 km/l. The diesel variants, naturally, claim a higher 23.7 km/l.

Honda WR-V vs. Maruti Vitara Brezza - Price

While the Maruti Vitara Brezza gets a much more powerful engine, the Honda WR-V compensates with few additional features on board, which proves their almost similar pricing for the petrol manual variants. While the Honda WR-V misses out on automatic gearbox option for the petrol engine, the Maruti Vitara Brezza doesn't get the diesel variants anymore.

Honda WR-V INR 8.50-9.70 lakh - INR 9.80-11.00 lakh

BS6 Honda WR-V Facelift to Launch Soon - DETAILS HERE https://indianautosblog.com/bs6-honda-wr-v-facelift-launch-soon-p321011 Tue, 30 Jun 2020 04:45:51 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321011 Honda has released a teaser video of the upcoming BS6 WR-V. The new more eco-friendly crossover will be launched in India on 2 July 2020.

BS6 Honda WR-V Exterior

It can be seen in the teaser video that the BS6 Honda WR-V facelift will have a similar silhouette as that of the model it will replace. Honda has, however, added a few changes in the car to make it look a bit refreshing. The front fascia of the BS6 WR-V features a new grille which has blacked-out horizontal slats. The company’s signature thick chrome slat with the brand’s logo in the middle continues to be one of the dominating elements at the front end.

The Japanese car-maker has also tweaked the headlamps of the BS6 Honda WR-V facelift. They now come equipped with LED projector units accompanied by integrated LED DRLs. While the side profile of the BS6 WR-V remains unchanged, the rear end of the new crossover would get updated taillamp clusters with LED lighting.

BS6 Honda WR-V Interior

If you’ve been in the cabin of the BS4 Honda WR-V, it is quite likely that you will find yourself at home in the BS6 Honda WR-V facelift because the interior wouldn’t receive any significant changes. Depending on the variant, features such as a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, engine start/stop button, electric sunroof, etc. would be available in new WR-V as well.

BS6 Honda WR-V Engine

The biggest change in the BS6 Honda WR-V is under the hood. The new crossover will be available with two engine options that comply with the more stringent Bharat Stage 6 emission standards. There will be a 1.2-litre petrol engine which is capable of producing a respectable 90 PS of power and 100 Nm of torque. It will be coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. Then we will have a 1.5-litre diesel mill that churns out 100 PS of power and 200 Nm of torque and will be mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox.

New Honda WR-V facelift starts reaching dealerships, interior leaked https://indianautosblog.com/new-honda-wr-v-facelift-starts-reaching-dealerships-interior-leaked-p320716 Wed, 20 May 2020 13:37:48 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=320716 The new Honda WR-V facelift has been snapped at a dealership. This suggests that the new model’s launch is imminent.

2020 Honda Wr V Facelift Front Exterior
The 2020 Honda WR-V facelift features new radiator grille.

While Honda has already revealed the exterior of the 2020 WR-V, this is the first time we get a look at the interior. As expected, the company has kept the interior design of the WR-V unchanged. As before, the cabin has a black colour scheme and comes with features like touch-operated climate control panel, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system and cruise control.

On the outside, the Honda WR-V has adopted LED projector headlamps, a new radiator grille and new rear combination lamps with LED light guide with the mid-life update. The rest of the design has remained unchanged. Even the 16-inch alloy wheels are the same. There’s no word on the changes in the colour options. Radiant Red Metallic, Premium Amber Metallic, Modern Steel Metallic, Golden Brown Metallic, Lunar Silver Metallic and White Orchid Pearl colours were the colours available previously.

2020 Honda Wr V Facelift Interior Dashboard
The interior of the Honda WR-V has remained unchanged.

Honda will offer the new WR-V with upgraded, BS6 versions of the old model's 1.2-litre i-VTEC SOHC petrol engine and 1.5-litre i-DTEC DOHC diesel engine. The maximum power and maximum torque outputs are likely to be the same. For reference, these figures are 90 PS and 110 Nm respectively for the BS4 petrol engine and 100 PS and 200 Nm respectively for the BS4 diesel engine.

Like in the old Honda WR-V, a 5-speed manual transmission will be standard in the petrol engine variant and a 6-speed manual transmission in the diesel engine variant. The fuel economy rating could be different from the old model’s 17.5 km/l (petrol)/25.5 km/l (diesel), though.

Honda showrooms re-open ahead of 2020 City, 2020 Jazz & 2020 WR-V launch - IAB Report https://indianautosblog.com/honda-showrooms-re-open-2020-city-2020-jazz-2020-wr-v-launch-p320647 Wed, 13 May 2020 08:07:30 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=320647 The launch of the 2020 Honda City, 2020 Honda Jazz and 2020 Honda WR-V in India is finally getting closer. 118 showrooms and 155 service centres of Honda in the country have re-opened since the restrictions imposed under the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak-led lockdown were eased last week.

2020 Honda City Front Quarters On Location
The national lockdown has put a dent on Honda’s launch plan for the 2020 City in India.

Honda says that it is working closely with dealerships to ensure that they strictly follow the sanitization, safety & distancing guidelines for the safety of customers and staff. All the outlets deciding to re-open need to be prepared to follow the set protocols, including the availability of personal protective and sanitization equipment and manpower readiness and sanitization.

Dealerships are encouraging more contactless customer experience with extensive use of digitalized mediums. There are also specific protocols that are required to be followed for entry into the dealership facility, pre-sales, test drives, sales activity, and the various other process involved at the dealership facilities.

2020 Honda Wr V Facelift Front Three Quarters Left
In addition to the 2020 Honda City, the 2020 Honda Jazz and the 2020 Honda WR-V are awaiting launch in India.

The national lockdown has put a dent on Honda’s launch plan for the 2020 City. The next-gen City’s media drive and launch both had to be postponed indefinitely because of the Coronavirus outbreak. The media drive was supposed to take place in mid-March, and the launch was expected to take place by early April. Now, the launch could take place by June.

In addition to the next-gen Honda City, Honda showrooms will soon welcome the Honda Jazz facelift and Honda WR-V facelift. Unlike the old Honda Jazz and old Honda WR-V, the new models will comply with the BS6 emission norms.

Honda will sell the 2020 WR-V petrol in SV and VX trims.

The 2020 Honda WR-V measures 3,999 mm in length, 1,734 mm in width and 1,601 mm in height. It has a 2,555 mm wheelbase. These dimensions are the same as those of the old model. It will be available in SV and VX trims.

Honda has never offered a CVT in the WR-V and it doesn’t plan to introduce a CVT in it even with the facelift. A 5-speed manual transmission will remain standard in the petrol variants. There’s no word on the diesel variants yet.

The 1.5-litre i-DTEC turbocharged four-cylinder diesel engine currently shared by the old WR-V, old City, previous generation Jazz, Amaze and the BR-V is going to be upgraded to BS-VI. But when that will happen isn’t known yet. In the old WR-V, it comes linked to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The new Honda WR-V features projector LED headlamps.

The BS-VI upgrade for the Honda WR-V coincides with its mid-cycle refresh. The crossover-styled sub-compact hatchback has received a new radiator grille with horizontal slats and a more upright Solid Wing chrome grille. Its halogen headlamps have been replaced with LED projector headlamps. The rear combination lamps have been tweaked and include a C-shaped LED tail light.

The old Honda WR-V is available with a BS-IV 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine and a BS-IV 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine. The naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine produces 90 PS at 6,000 rpm and 110 Nm of torque at 4,800 rpm. It comes linked to a 5-speed manual transmission. Honda launches 10 year/1,20,000km special ‘Anytime Warranty' plan https://indianautosblog.com/honda-launches-10-year1-20-000km-special-anytime-warranty-plan-p319122 Tue, 10 Dec 2019 09:06:31 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=319122 In an attempt to improve customer's ownership experience and increase trust on the brand, Honda Cars India has introduced a special warranty package dubbed 'Anytime Warranty' for its entire product line-up. This special scheme allows vehicle warranty to be extended up to a maximum of 10 years/1,20,000 km with the use of discrete packs, which individually provide a cover of 1 year/20,000km at a time.

2019 Honda Civic Front Three Quarters Left Side
'Anytime Warranty' plan by Honda allows vehicle warranty to be extended up to a maximum of 10 years/1,20,000 km.

All Honda car owners are eligible for this program if their vehicle is not older than 10 years and the odometer reading is below 1,20,000 km. Honda customers with expired standard and extended warranties are also eligible for the ‘Anytime Warranty' plan, hence the name.

Honda Cars India's entire line-up (City, Amaze, Civic, Jazz, WR-V, BR-V, CR-V, Brio and Accord Hybrid, along with discontinued Mobilio) is eligible to be covered under this plan. Interested customers can visit the nearest Honda authorised dealership to avail this special warranty scheme. Also, the same is transferable in the name of the new owner, in case the vehicle is sold in future.

'Anytime Warranty' plan is transferable in the name of the new owner, in case the vehicle is sold in future.

Also Read: 2020 Honda City with full-LED headlamps spied in India

The cost of the 'Anytime Warranty'plan varies from model to model, powertrain, age of the vehicle, the status of the current/expired warranty plan and service records. For example, Honda quotes a price of INR 8,739 for providing a sixth-year coverage of the City petrol which is currently covered under its standard/extended warranty period. The amount hikes up to INR 14,619 for the same model for its tenth-year coverage. On the other hand, a City diesel is covered for INR 11,548 and INR 19,320, respectively. Needless to say, the cost is higher if the vehicle’s standard/extended warranty is under an expired state. For the record, Honda has so far offered a standard 3 years/unlimited km warranty on all its models along with an extendable 5-year coverage (optional).
