Since then, the Japanese company has launched a plethora of new products and, thus, been successful in establishing itself in one of the world’s largest and most competitive two-wheeler markets.

Late last year, Honda celebrated the completion of two glorious decades of the Activa in India by launching the 20th-anniversary edition of the scooter. And now, the company has announced yet another achievement; Honda sales in North India has surpassed the 70 lakh milestone.

With the increasing demand, the firm opened its second factory in Rajasthan. Honda also has three premium BigWing dealerships in North India - Jaipur, Ludhiana, and Gurugram - and is planning to open more such outlets soon.

Honda also has 11 Skill Enhancement Centres to empower the local youth with job-oriented technical skills. These centres are located in Gurgaon, Rohtak, Panipat, Baddi, Bhatinda, Jodhpur, Kota, Patiala, and Delhi. Honda planning to introduce entry-level motorcycle for rural market https://indianautosblog.com/honda-entry-level-motorcycle-for-rural-market-p321452 Tue, 25 Aug 2020 07:15:01 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=321452 While Honda is one of the leading companies in India when it comes to scooters, the Japanese brand lacks in variety to compete with rivals in the motorcycle segment, especially in the rural market. To tackle this problem, Honda is planning to introduce an entry-level motorcycle to expand its product portfolio as well as reach in the rural areas where manufactures such as Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto has a strong grip.

Honda Cd 110 Dream Dx Cbs Launched In India
Honda is aiming to develop an entry-level motorcycle that will sit below the CD 110 Dream, which is the company's most affordable bike available at the moment.

As per the latest report, to occupy a share in the rural market in the country, Honda is aiming to develop an entry-level motorcycle that will sit below the CD 110 Dream, which is the company's most affordable bike at the moment available at a starting price of INR 64,505 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Speaking with ET Auto, HMSI's newly appointed President, CEO and Managing Director, Atsushi Ogata, said:

Unfortunately, we do not have a strong product for rural areas, therefore definitely we need a model to acquire such kind of customers because Honda philosophy is to supply affordable products to customers. It is our responsibility to provide a product that people in rural areas can buy. We don't have an actual product in this segment. Of course, we have CD 110 but it cannot penetrate such markets.

Details regarding Honda's upcoming entry-level motorcycle are a blur right now. The company is, however, conducting studies to understand the requirements of the rural market and develop a new product based on the findings. Regarding the launch, Honda has not shared a definite timeline but did say that it will take some time.

Honda's upcoming low-cost commuter bike launching in a year - Spied https://indianautosblog.com/honda-low-cost-commuter-bike-launching-in-a-year-p177807 Sun, 03 May 2015 10:35:19 +0000 https://indianautosblog.com/?p=177807 To penetrate rural India.

After outwitting its former partner Hero Motocorp in the scooters segment, Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) is planning a new commuter bike that will be positioned below its current Dream series of bikes to compete with India's largest two-wheeler manufacturer on the motorcycles front as well.

An allegedly leaked image played out by Motorbeam shows that the new commuter bike will come with flatter panels, an elongated seat, and spoke wheels. While the flatter panels and the wheels must allow HMSI to cut back on costs to a certain extent, the elongated seat will appeal to the rural audience to a great extent.

Set to feature flat panels, spoked wheels, and a lengthy seat, the low-cost bike will appeal to both urban and rural customers.

Reports began to come in late last year when the company was said to be producing a low-cost bike with local R&D and some inputs from HQ in Japan. The Dream series offered by HMSI at present consists of three models - the Dream Yuga, the Dream Neo, and the CD 110 Dream. Globally speaking, Honda makes low-cost bikes for the South African market priced around $600 (INR 38,000). In its development stage at present, reports state the bike is said to be out in a year's time.

HMSI recently enjoyed a mega-sales day when it sold 41,000 units in a single day.

After launching the CD 110 this July, HMSI will launch a 160 cc bike next month.

The company has gone all out of late to take the fight to the doorstep of Hero Motocorp. One of its primary tasks this year is concentrating on the rural market, with 70 percent of all new dealerships in 2014 scheduled to come up in rural parts of the country.

This would take HMSI's overall touch points across the country to around 3,800. Part of its push into the hinterlands was to introduce mobile dealerships that also act as service vans.

The motorcycle has an unmistakable Dream family identity with the body graphics design, and silver color theme for engine and alloy wheels being only strong differentiating factors. The bike is positioned in the 'Basic sub-segment' of commuter space which, according to Honda, contributes 70 lakh units per annum.

The 'CD' brand was used on the first motorcycle to come out from the collaboration of Hero and Honda. The 100 cc entry-level commuter, launched in 1985, is largely responsible for the position both companies have attained today in India as a sea CD 100 motorcycles were sold, until the 100 cc Splendor, launched in 1994, became the staple for the Indo Japanese partnership.
